AIX COMMANDS USED SOFAR.

September 24, 2013

I have been working on different commands and not able to keep them in a single location due to various reasons and later again every time is am spending a lot of time to get the idea on the command. So today i have decided to add all of them to this page. offcourse i will add only AIX related commands only in this page.

SPLIT:-

We can use this to split a big file into small pieces and combined to back to single file later.

Eg:-

split -b 25m SCB_ql_prdpt_ql_prdpt_1_10g_DB_GSDK_PA.tar.Z FILEPART_25M

if you are combining above parts in another UNIX box, then use below command.

cat FILEPART_25Ma[a-o] > SCB_ql_prdpt_ql_prdpt_1_10g_DB_GSDK_PA.tar.Z

if you are combining above parts in another WINDOWS box, then use below command.

copy -B part1+part2+part3+part4….       <target_Filename>

eg:- copy /B FILEPART_25Maa+….+cat FILEPART_25Mao SCB_ql_prdpt_ql_prdpt_1_10g_DB_GSDK_PA.tar.Z

remember, while ftp the files in bin mode only.

Here i did split based on the file size.

if we need split based on lines, we can do that using -l option.
