Demystifying nodeapps

April 23, 2013

Nodeapps are a standard set of Oracle application services that are automatically launched for RAC (Real Application Cluster). The following service are lunched by nodeapps:

  1. Virtual IP (VIP)
  2. Oracle Net Listener
  3. Global Services Daemon (GSD)
  4. Oracle Notification Service (ONS)

Nodeapp services run on each node can be relocated to other nodes through the virtual IP. To check the status of the nodeapps on all nodes in a cluster we can use below command.

srvctl status nodeapps

==================

[grid@rsvmsb180 ~]$ srvctl status nodeapps
VIP rsvmsb181 is enabled
VIP rsvmsb181 is running on node: rsvmsb180
VIP rsvmsb183 is enabled

Network is enabled
Network is running on node: rsvmsb180
Network is running on node: rsvmsb182
